Ivette Matos

Ivette MatosEcstatic & humbled are the two words that come to mind as I think of my being one of Holcomb Law’s attorneys. Matthew 19:26 …with God, all things are possible.

Virginia Beach, VA has been my new home since 2021. Previously, I resided in the City of Lynchburg, VA for 13 years where I served the community in which I had invested and established roots in as a graduate of Liberty University School of Law.

During my time in the “Burg,” I externed with the Virginia Legal Aid Society and once licensed, served as a Panel Member of Virginia Legal Aid Pro Bono. I have assisted in helping lower-income individuals and their families through the donation of my time with pro bono cases such as uncontested divorce. I also served as a volunteer attorney for Wills for Heroes which is a program that offers free Wills, Power of Attorney and Medical Directives to our emergency first responders.

Before VA, I lived in a small town in Pennsylvania where I had my first “out of the city” experience. This was a place where neighbors knew each other, had celebrations and times of mourning together, and attended the same church to worship. I homeschooled my children, worked part time, all while continuing my education to include a Master of Science degree from Liberty University. It was there that the vision to become a lawyer began to come into fruition.

My place of origin and where I spent my life was The Big Apple. I am a native New Yorker who grew up in the Bronx and am remarkably familiar with the hardships, challenges, and problems that families may sometimes face. I have experienced first-hand the many emotions that accompany a major life stressor such as divorce. Therefore, I truly aspire to be a catalyst to help people and play a vital role in providing information, advice, and representation on their behalf. I am personable; a faithful servant; one who knows how to get things done in a loving respectful manner.

Back in Virginia Beach, I have sincere dedication to the legal profession, personal integrity, compassion, and commitment to provide the utmost quality work. Hence, when I saw the job opening for a Family Law attorney with Holcomb Law, I prayed and shortly after applied. Voila! I am excited to be part of Holcomb Law and feel honored as their team family has warmly welcomed me.

I am looking forward to acclimating myself, being engaged, connected, and to making a difference advocating for those that need their voice heard. My passion, care for others, determination, and commitment, will shine through given the opportunity to confront and solve real-world problems thoughtfully and fearlessly on your behalf.

Ephesians 3:20 (MSG) God can do anything, you know-far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams!  He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.
